About Haein Kang:

Haein Kang, a new media artist and assistant professor of new media art at Vanderbilt University, mentors students working at the intersection of art, technology, and innovation. Trained in painting, conceptual art, and media engineering, she holds a Ph.D. in Digital Arts and Experimental Media from the University of Washington. There, her research explored artistic illusion through EEG-based brain–computer interfaces. Her interdisciplinary practice integrates data, sound, and computational media. Dr. Kang received an Honorary Mention at the 2019 Prix Ars Electronica for her contributions to data-driven sound art. At Wondr'y, she helps students develop experimental, research-driven projects, encouraging creative risk-taking and critical thinking through emerging technologies.
