Sharon Chou:

Data & AI Product Advisor, Fortune's Path

About Sharon Chou:

As a technologist who has tinkered with bits and atoms for almost two decades, Sharon has mentored high school and college students who’re now successful entrepreneurs, staff engineers, managers, and PMs. She’s currently the Data and AI Product Advisor with Fortune’s Path, where she has consulted on projects from support tickets triaging to internal document retrieval augmented generation (RAG) for Nashville-based healthcare clients.

Taking the Wayback Machine to her EECS M.Eng. at MIT, Sharon designed computationally efficient methods to quality-check nanoscale CMOS circuits at ultra-low voltages. During her PhD at Stanford, she discovered new material combinations by quantum simulations to engineer surfaces that convert heat and sunlight into electricity with high efficiency.

Sharon then went full industry at FirstFuel (now Uplight), where she modeled energy use with AI/ML for commercial buildings that translated to 30% - 70% lower energy cost. At Asurion, she automated customer service pipelines and improved support agents’ star ratings via natural language processing and ML feature engineering. Sharon led the Data Science team at Amira Learning from Seed to Series A, building a personalized ML-powered reading tutor that’s deployed across thousands of schools internationally. She also consulted on product development and UX, such as redesigning app workflows that boosted an enterprise platform’s user adoption from 5% to over 90%. Sharon has presented her work as an invited speaker and panelist at numerous conferences.

On the investing side, Sharon is a Hustle Fund Venture Fellow who’s evaluating startups alongside Hustle Fund’s general partners, as well as an active angel investor who sees regular deal flow through Alumni Ventures. She enjoys helping founders understand how investors think, what to pitch and how for best landing. While not digging with due diligence into pitch decks, Sharon could sometimes be found in her studio at Kreate Hub Nashville where she makes mixed-media visual arts.
